CONGRATULATIONS

We were delighted to be able to present a cheque for £50 to Judith young of Blackwater College.  Judith was the winner of our annual prize draw and collected her prize on 28th July.

O’Boyles Staff are now available on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Morning to talk to clients about courses and training on offer and take them on a tour of the premises.  Clients are still free to call in outside of this time, if an advisor is not available an appointment can be made to see one.  Throughout September some students are still making their minds up.

New Programmes are on offer to school leavers joining Training for Success from September 2009 and for those currently on Training for Success and ready to progress.

The Best ‘Trainers’ Around!

Recruitment is currently taking place at Hugh J O’Boyle Training Ltd for 16-17 year olds who would like to get started in a career and complete job related qualifications. There are lots of different careers to follow including Catering and Hospitality, Bar Service, Professional Cookery, Administration, I.T, Childcare, Retail Skills, Butchery, Floristry and Distribution, Warehousing and Stores.  As well as learning new skills, participants will work towards gaining real qualifications.  All students will have the opportunity to gain National Vocational Qualifications at Level 2 (equivalent to five GCSE’s at Grade C or above) and/or Level 3 (equivalent to 2 A levels) Training will include off-the-job training at O’Boyle’s premises, as well as workplace training.  It is not just the training that is rewarding, a weekly training allowance will be paid and O’Boyle’s will cover the cost of all qualifications and travel. Hugh J O’Boyle Training Ltd has over 23 years experience in delivering training and qualifications for school leavers.  The organization is paid on results which is reassuring for students and parents.  The harder you work the more qualifications you can get.  O’Boyle’s have a team of trainers who will help you achieve your goal, regardless of the hurdles in front of you.  Together we will make sure you cross the finish line and get what you deserve – a job and qualifications.  O’Boyles are recruiting in all the main towns including Newcastle, Downpatrick, Ballynahinch and the surrounding areas.  Contact Hugh J O’Boyle Training Ltd on 02844616438 and speak to a member of staff for more information and advice.  Alternatively school leavers and or parents are invited to call into 114 Irish Street to discuss career opportunities.  O’Boyle’s can also make referrals to Careers Advisers in the local Job Centres for any students who want professional careers guidance.

Congratulations to Catherine Rice who has completed her full Apprenticeship Framework in administration, and to her employer AQ Engineering who secure a £500 bonus to reflect their commitment in releasing Catherine to attend her day release classes.

Congratulations - Emma Armstrong  In our last edition we advised that one of our Administration Apprentices was in the final of the William Keown Trust Awards.  We are delighted to announce that Emma Armstrong was one of three local recipients of accolades at the prestigious William Keown Trust Awards for Personal Achievement.  Held in Bangor last month, the William Keown Trust Awards recognize the accomplishments and courage shown by people with disabilities.  The awards were presented by Trust President Kate Smith and local entertainer Gene Fitzpatrick.  Emma Armstrong was presented with a ‘Children of Courage – Special Certificate’.  We are delighted for Emma who is a most deserving recipient of the award.

Childcare students now avail of ‘Behaviour Management Workshops’ in addition to their Childcare course.  The Workshops are beneficial in helping Students to develop strategies to deal with disruptive behavior.

Hugh J O’Boyle Training Ltd offered students at Secondary Level Education an opportunity to take advantage of 2 one day Vocational Qualification Courses which took place in July: Thursday 16th July – City & Guilds Introductory Certificate in Customer CareThursday 23rd July – City & Guilds Introductory Certificate in Conflict HandlingBoth Courses took place at O’Boyles premises at 114 Irish Street, Downpatrick.  Clients completed a test at the end of each day; a pass in this resulted in a qualification – a City and Guilds Certificate in ‘Customer Care’ and a City & Guilds Certificate in ‘Conflict handling’.  We have had 100% success rate for these qualifications and this is a real confidence boost for participants.  The Customer Care course is relevant for most vocational areas and feedback from the clients is that they really enjoyed the course and felt it was beneficial.  Achievement in this has given the students additional qualifications to add to their CV.  The Conflict Handling Course is for people who are working in areas where there is likely to be conflict with customers – Catering, Retail, Front Line Reception etc. The group included a mixture from grammar school, university and vocational training.  Congratulations to all students who took part.

Congratulations to 5 O’Boyle Staff who sat the ‘Conflict Handling’ exam – Meme Swail, Nuala McElroy, Caroline Daly, Martina Hawkins and Barbara Massey!

We are delighted to advise you that we are now offering additional new short accredited courses to clients under ‘ Steps to Work’.  We have introduced these short accredited courses to help clients achieve qualifications which can give them an edge in competing for jobs in the current job market.  The courses run on a Thursday – If you are interested then please do not hesitate to contact us.  Document Presentation Level 2 Document Presentation Level 3 Speed Keying Mail Merge Level 2 Business Presentations Level 2
