on the Birth of her

1st Grandchild Chloe

Newcastle girl Chimene Hayes has recently won VQ trainee of the year at Hugh J O’Boyle Training Ltd.

Chimene enrolled with Hugh J O’Boyle Training Ltd. directly from school in 2007 with few qualifications and very little idea of what she wanted to do with her life.In 2008, she joined the team at Superdrug in Newcastle and this proved to be a turning point for her. Over the last three years Chimene has gathered qualifications in Customer Service, Conflict Handling, Maths, English, Level 2 Retail Knowledge Technical Certificates and Level 2 Retail Skills.Chimene gained many of these qualifications through the Apprenticeship NI programme, combining “on the job” training alongside classroom study.Chimene commented “this has been the ideal way to further my education, being able to earn a wage and achieve qualifications at the same time. I am now hoping to move forward in my career through Superdrug’s in-house programme of training and someday have my own store to manage.”Hugh J O’Boyle Training Ltd. awarded the trophy to celebrate VQ Day. This was launched in 2008 to raise the stature of practical and vocational achievement. The 3rd annual VQ day took place nationwide in June 2010.VQ’s – vocational qualifications - are focused on helping you learn skills that will give you a head start in your career, rather than just theory. They can give you a foot in the door to the industry you want to work in, or prepare you for further vocational study or university.

Congratulations to Anne Deegan on the Birth of her grandson Conor!
