Company History
Hugh J O'Boyle Training Ltd has over twenty years experience in providing training to the communities of South & East Belfast and South Down.
Downpatrick
Hugh J O'Boyle Training Ltd commenced the Youth Training programme in 1986 under our parent company Hugh J O'Boyle Ltd. In 1990 we became a seperate company moving to new premises in Irish Street Downpatrick. In 1991 we launched our Foundation Training department. In September 1993 we developed our own accredited college centre 'The College of Business & Education' at English Street Downpatrick offering a wide range of accredited courses through current training programmes and on a private basis. In 2001 we were awarded the contract by DEL to operate a Jobclub in South Down. In February 2003 we amalgamated our two Downpatrick offices to one site in English Street. We are a member of the New Deal consortium partnership which is led by Down District Council.
February 2007 saw us returning to renovated premises at Irish Street. Seen by many long serving staff members as a return home, we believe that the state of the art premises and facilities will allow us to continue providing an excellent level of training to the local community and to accommodate demand for our services.
In January 2008 we took over the New Deal Lead Partner Role for the Down District Area. In September 2008 we joined a consortium of training providers to deliver the new adult Steps to Work Programme for unemployed adults. We are the sole deliverer of this in the Newcastle, Downpatrick and Ballynahinch areas.
Belfast
In January 1990 Hugh J O'Boyle Training Ltd extended its operation to Belfast and established an office on the Ormeau Road in South Belfast. These premises have since been extended and doubled in size. The operation has continued to go from strength to strength offering the same accredited courses as College of Business & Education. Renamed 'Belfast Centre of Learning' the company has been Lead Partner in the New Deal consortium for South Belfast and Castlereagh since 1998.
Incorporating Learndirect from 2001 to 2005, and most recently housing the Recruitment & Training Service, this branch holds its own. Belfast Centre of Learning is involved with a number of schools in the area supporting their ECDL, OCR & NVQ course delivery. We have also been awarded prestigious contracts such as in August 2004 Links to Employment Programme in partnership with Ace Ventures, and the Training Women Network Childcare course 2005. 2007 has seen BCL becoming a GOALA Testing site for on-line exams.
